Name Change: Holy City Catholic Medical Guild, Charleston, SC
To align the overall mission of the guild with the national Catholic Medical Association as well as with other guilds around the country, the board has approved a modification of our formal name. We will now be officially registered as the:
Holy City Catholic Medical Guild, Charleston, SC.
Carolina Catholic Professionals Partnership
The Holy City Catholic Medical Guild announces an exciting opportunity which has become available for developing a partnernership with a local not-for-profit entity, The Carolina Catholic Professionals, which is led by Mr. Frank Dirks. This is a 501c3 not for profit organization which has been doing very important work in promoting, supporting, and furthering initiatives dedicated to the mission of the Catholic Church in the Charleston area since 2017 which aligns nicely with the guild’s mission. Mr. Dirks has offered us an opportunity to facilitate fundraising for sponsorship of events, special projects, membership operations and other needs such as dues through their website:
https://carolinacatholicprofessionals.com/. There is a dropdown box to select and direct funds to the guild.
Catholic Medical Student Chapter:
In January, 2025, the Holy City Medical Guild’s Board of Directors approved a motion to add a medical student liaison position to our board. Ms. Emma Albano, a second-year student at MUSC, was appointed to that position. We are working with Emma, to launch an official Catholic Medial Association Student Chapter on the campus. We hope to have that formalized in the coming months. One of the truly inspiring aspects of our new guild has been the enthusiasm among the students who have attended our events. We plan to be a resource for faithful Catholic students to support them in their professional and spiritual journeys as part of our mission and duty. We will be assisting the medical students in launching a Novus Medicus chapter at MUSC.
